The Surveillance Specialist performs as a contributing member of the Public Health Emergency Planning, preparing and response team.
Essential duties include, but are not limited to: responds as directed with the team to any threats to public health, collects epidemiological data for the surveillance of specific diseases and conditions, prepares and maintains lab and patient records in a confidential manner, analyzes epidemiological data through the use of statistical measures, analyzes, plans, develops, coordinates and conducts specific epidemiological investigations or studies including the use of situational mapping, enters data, responds to alerts (such as RODS), monitors regional, state, and national reports such as EpiX and CoCA, attends and participates in meetings and conferences as required.
This position is a grant-funded position and the position and salary are directly dependent upon grant funds received.
Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in science, biology, clinical or laboratory health care or a related field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid Texas Driver’s License required; AND Nurse (RN or LVN) Preferred
Salary will commensurate with experience.
