Outdoor Concert Series provided by Brazoria County Historical Museum
Enjoy some of the best music around under the shade of the beautiful oak trees on the Brazoria County Historical Museum’s south lawn. This year’s Cultural Concert Series features award winning musicians Step Rideau and Sunny Sauceda.
Returning favorite, Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws, will kick off the series on Saturday, July 8. Awarded the Centric Award at the 2011 Zydeco Music Awards and with eight CDs to his credit, international Zydeco sensation Step Rideau has been a cornerstone of the Zydeco scene for over twenty years. Enjoy an evening of music influenced by traditional creole folk songs, classic rhythm & blues, jazz and more, performed by one of the top Zydeco bands along the Gulf Coast. This concert is generously sponsored by BASF.
On July 22, the Museum will host the two-time Grammy winning Tejano artist Sunny Sauceda. Sauceda, as a member of Grupo Vida, played as the opening act for the Dixie Chicks’ national “Fly” tour in 2000. Come out for an energetic performance of music that originated in the mid-19th century fusing the confluence of cultures that came to settle Texas.
Concerts are always free and begin at 5:00 PM and run until 8:00 PM. Bring a picnic dinner, your lawn chairs, and dancing shoes for an evening of family fun.
