Post Date:01/22/2018 4:45 AM
Beginning Monday, January 29, students in Freeport will be offered afterschool meals and homework help at the Freeport Library as part of a collaboration between the library and the Houston Food Bank’s Kid’s Café program.
The Kid’s Cafe program will provide full meals for students from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Each student will receive one meal, with seconds provided only after everyone has been served. The first come, first served program is open to students ages 5 – 18 attending public school and is free, with no paperwork for students or parents to fill out.
Homework Help will be provided from 3:30 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Students can ask for homework help, and for those who don’t have homework that day, there will be interesting STEAM activities set out. STEAM activities cover science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics.
Kids Café is one of the nation’s largest nutrition education programs, providing children with healthy nourishment planned and prepared by professional dietitians and chefs.
The Freeport Library is located at 410 Brazosport Blvd. For more information call the branch at 979-233-3622.
