Brazoria County Library System invites you to “Get Carded”
The value of today’s libraries goes well beyond just books. Library staff help people of all ages find what they need for recreation and to improve their quality of life. This September, the Brazoria County Library System with its “Get Carded” campaign is joining the American Library Association and libraries nationwide in Library Card Sign-Up Month, an initiative to make sure that everyone, and especially students, has the most important card of all – a free library card.
As new technologies evolve, libraries continue to lead the way in providing equity of access to print, digital tools and media. Digital materials are available 24/7 and include eBooks, streaming and downloadable audiobooks, magazines, music, movies & TV shows, as well as online courses, research tools, resume help, test prep, tutorials, and more. All digital tools, classes and services are free with a library card. To sign up and get a free library card, just bring proof of address to any of our 12 branch locations. You can also register online for an eCard and gain access to the library’s online services. If you already have a library card you do not need to get an eCard.
Library cards are good for three years and can be renewed upon showing proof of address. This is also a good time to make sure that the contact information on your account is current. As an added bonus, anyone getting a new library card or renewing an expired card during this initiative will receive a free library book bag and magnet (while supplies last). Emblazoned with the library logo and “Get Carded”, these are perfect to let everyone know that you possess one of the most valuable cards around – a free library card!
