Attendees will learn basic roles, responsibilities and techniques necessary to communicate a carefully crafted message to their intended audience. Training will include a number of mock training scenarios as well as “on-camera” exercises for every course participant. The exercises are intended to give attendees useful experience in realistic situations.

  • Basic communication strategies
  • Assessing your agency’s strengths and weaknesses
  • Interview like a Pro
  • Writing effective Media Releases
  • Building strong media relationships
  • Serving the public through effective communications
  • Dealing with hostile news media
  • Anatomy of a Press Conference
  • Handling the media in disaster situations
