The United States of Americas Constitution Day
Commissioners Court proclaimed September 17, 2024, as “The United States of Americas Constitution Day”. This year marks the 237th anniversary of the signing of the United States Constitution.
Texian Navy Day
September 21 was proclaimed as “Texian Navy Day” by Commissioners Court. In January 1836, the first Texas Navy consisted of four schooners by the names of Invincible, Brutus, Independence, and Liberty. Under the command of Commodore Charles Edward Hawkins, the first Texas Navy was able to prevent a Mexican blockade off the Texas coasts which helped win the Republic of Texas Independence.
